Alaska Native Art

Arctic people spent much of each day hunting and gathering food for their families.  During their leisure they created beautiful pieces of artwork that portrayed the life and worldviews they embraced.  The animals they depended upon, the land that provided for them, and the spiritual world that surrounded them were all themes that are portrayed in their art.

Today our Alaska Native artists, though fewer in number, continue to carry on the traditions of their forefathers.  We proudly choose to preserve the skills and craftsmanship of our traditional people.
